Welcome to the Roundup, an ICYMI 👀 summary of all that Collab.Land’s done since the January 2023 Roundup.
$COLLAB token + DAO
The Case for $COLLAB
The $COLLAB token plays a crucial role in the Collab.Land DAO and Marketplace. At launch, $COLLAB will be utilized for voting by members (along with the DAO Pass), for developers to add their Miniapps to the marketplace, and for admins to install Miniapps to their communities. Stay tuned for more info!
Because the Marketplace is so powerful, we want to ensure it is always meeting the needs of the community. At the heart of the Marketplace vision is the Collab.Land DAO or Collab.Land Co-op. This DAO is responsible for managing the Marketplace, reviewing and approving applications, making decisions about its future development, and ensuring that the interests of its members are always protected. Members can vote on proposals, submit new ideas, and participate in the decision-making process, ensuring that everyone has a say in the platform's future. DAO governance goes live the first week of April 2023, halfway through the token claim period.
The vision for the Marketplace is simple: to power a community-governed ecosystem where members can connect, collaborate, and benefit from each other's skills, knowledge, and expertise. Collab.Land is building a platform that is more than just a marketplace – it's a network that is owned and controlled by its members.
Marketplace
The Marketplace is the third fundamental element of the recent Collab.Land announcements, in addition to the $COLLAB token and the Collab.Land Co-op.
If you’re a community admin, explore the Marketplace and install Miniapps for your community.
The Collab.Land Marketplace is an invitation to developers to join with Collab.Land and share in the success of the web3 ecosystem as we continue to grow.
To date, the Collab.Land bot is used by over 47,000 communities. The Marketplace puts miniapps directly in front of these communities, making it the largest and most effective distribution channel in all of web3. Developers who build social applications for the Marketplace are accessing an immediate audience of engaged, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic community admins.
What is the DAO Pass?
The Collab.Land DAO Pass is a non-transferrable NFT that gives holders the ability to participate in governance in the Collab.Land Co-op with their $COLLAB tokens. Think of it as your access pass to enter into governance but then it’s your $COLLAB that determines your “voting weight,” or how much your vote is worth.
✅ Hold 10 $COLLAB to claim a DAO Pass via Origami DAO platform
✅ One wallet with 100 $COLLAB has the same voting power as 10 wallets with 10 $COLLAB
✅ Need to hold both a DAO Pass and $COLLAB; when a voting snapshot is taken, only the wallets with both a DAO Pass and $COLLAB are eligible to vote
❌ DAO Pass is non-transferrable and cannot be sold, OpenSea sale transactions will revert. There is no benefit to moving tokens to claim multiple DAO Passes
Community Claims
The top 100 communities made their own proposals for how to distribute their allocations of $COLLAB tokens.
These allocations are invitations for the top 100 communities to join with Collab.Land in building the Miniapp Marketplace and governing it through the Collab.Land DAO.
There was a week long period of public comment in the Collab.Land Discord and now the Collab.Land team is evaluating each proposal for approval or revisions.

Collab.Land is a read-only application. When you sign a message, you attest that you own a particular wallet address. Collab.Land reads the public blockchain to verify that the wallet address is connected to the required token address to grant a role.
There is no opportunity for Collab.Land to have access to anything other than your public wallet address, which is viewable to everyone.
